EPCON Pump Sizing Software™ application, Powered by Process Innovator™, determines the fluid transportation characteristics of pumping systems with one supply and one discharge.
Flow Rate and Fluid Properties
EPCON Pump Sizing™ Software application allows users to enter the design flow rate based on the type of flow (Volume or Mass Flow) chosen in the Flow Type menu. The fluid properties will already have been posted to the respective fields if they had been determined in the physical properties pane in the Process Innovator environment. Alternatively, the user may manually enter the required physical property data.
EPCON Pump Sizing Software™ application requires that the elevation of the entrance of the flow into the system (source elevation) and the point of exit of flow from the system (discharge elevation) be entered with the pump elevation as the reference. The source elevation is the elevation of the lowest point on the suction sider while the discharge elevation is defined as the highest operating elevation of the discharge side of the pump. If the pipe elevation rises significantly above the highest discharge elevation, start-up problem may occur if additional head pressure is not added.
The source pressure in EPCON Pump Sizing™ Software application is defined as the lowest operating pressure at the system source and the discharge pressure is defined as the highest operating pressure at the system discharge (the worst case from a pressure drop standpoint).
Pipe/Duct Pressure Drops
The pipe/duct total pressure drop for the source and discharge sections will be calculated by EPCON Pump Sizing™ Software application by entering the pipe diameter, length and associated fitting and equipment k-values.
